Paintings by Mike Tine' with Sculptures by Chris Provenzano, Jo Anne Duby and Greg Kailian
The walls of this exhibition show breadth and power in Ventura painter Mike Tiné’s recent work. The artist obtained a BFA in painting at the University of Tennessee and an MFA in sculpture at the University of Wyoming. Currently residing and painting in Ventura at the WAV artists' complex, Tiné also keeps a sculpture studio at Art City Gallery and Studios. His paintings challenge us with wild psycho-scapes, saturate us in strong blue and salmon, and mystify us with their symbolic juxtapositions and visual compositions, as with Blue Virgin and When Angels Dance.
Displayed in clusters of thought and form throughout the large exhibition hall, we see and experience free-standing stone sculptures by Ventura artists JoAnne Duby, Greg Kailian and Chris Provenzano. These artworks span the artists’ careers; exclamation points, question marks and periods punctuating prolific bodies of work in stone.
